Jade Bonsai Trees need plenty of light, preferably full sun, especially if you want them to flower.

If you live in a warm area, you can keep your Jade Bonsai Tree outdoors all year round. In milder areas they can be kept indoors but are particularly dependent on full sun. Redding tips on its green leaves are a good indicator the plant is getting enough sunlight. To maintain your Jade Bonsai do not let temperatures drop below 5 °C.  

If you live in a cold area, keep your Jade Bonsai Tree indoors during the winter and protect it from frost.

Water your Jade Bonsai Tree only when the soil has dried, its leaves can hold a significant amount of water so allowing the plant to dry is the course of action. Come winter, in colder temperatures, watering should occur on a three weekly basis. Jade Bonsai are relatively drought tolerant succulents, watering is to be done lightly and overwhelmingly dictated by the soil.

Feed your Jade Bonsai Tree with a balanced fertilizer monthly during the growing season, from spring to autumn.

As a succulent full of water in its branches and trunk, Jade Bonsai is very responsive to pruning. Regular pruning will encourage growth. Wiring requires more careful application as its soft bark means its easily cut. Wiring should be done with vigilance as this species are prone to rotting in its branches and trunk.

Repot your Jade Bonsai before the buds open in Spring ideally every 2 years. Be sure to use a bonsai-soil mix that drains well and leave the soil untouched for a good week after. Doing so gives any roots damaged or cut time to heal appropriately.

You can also use a mild insecticidal soap or neem oil spray, to prevent and treat infestations.
