Acer Palmatum Dissectum 34cm

The Acer Palmatum Dissectum Bonsai is one of the most popular varieties of maple and is a staple of Japanese garden design. In early spring expect to see stunning bright red leaves, followed by red/green in summer and a deeper, rich red in autumn. In winter the leaves will drop to reveal a striking silhouette.

This lovely Acer bonsai tree is standing at approximately 39cm tall in a cream rectangle glazed ceramic oriental pot with a depth of 22cm and width of 34cm. This Acer features symmetrical roots and amazing red full foliage.

Acer Palmatum Dissectum Placement

Choose an outdoor location that is sunny but protected from strong wind and scorching sunlight in the hottest part of summer days. The more sustained light the tree receives, the deeper red the leaves will be. Protect from harsh frost in winter.

Acer Palmatum Dissectum Watering and feeding

They must be watered generously as soon as the top inch of soil gets dry. Do not let the soil dry out fully and avoid constant wetness. See our watering guide.
Only feed periodically during the growing season (March-Oct).

Acer Palmatum Dissectum Pruning and wiring

The shoots and twigs of the Acer can and should be trimmed all year round. Remove large leaves during periods of active growth to encourage the appearance of smaller and finer leaves.
The Deshojo red maple can be beautifully styled. It is best to wire when the tree is in leaf since branches that contain sap are less likely to snap.

Acer Palmatum Dissectum Repotting

Repot in early spring with a well-draining bonsai soil mix.
