Chamaecyparis Placement:

Keep outdoors as it is a hardy species. Protect from the cold and frosts during winter by bringing it into a greenhouse or conservatory.

Chamaecyparis Watering and feeding:

They must be watered generously as soon as the top inch of soil gets dry. Do not let the soil dry out fully and avoid constant wetness.
See our
watering guide.
Only feed periodically during the growing season (March-Oct).

Chamaecyparis Pruning and wiring:

The Sawara cypress is a vigorous species that you can and should prune and pinch constantly during the growing season.
The cypress (chamaecyparis) can be wired at any time of the year. Take care that the wires do not bite into the bark during the growing season.

Chamaecyparis Repotting:

Repot in early spring with a well-draining bonsai soil mix.
