Mandarin Tree 36cm

Mandarin (Lingustrum) bonsai tree is a deciduous shrub native to China but can now be found on most continents, often being used for hedging due to its fast-growing habit. Also known as Chinese privet, they are popular with beginners in bonsai because they are quite adaptable and respond well to being pruned.

This lovely mandarin bonsai tree is standing at approximately 36cm tall in a blue glazed oriental pot with a depth of 20cm and width of 26cm. This mandarin features a gracefully twisted trunk with nice branch structure.

Bushy Mandarin Tree Placement:

The mandarin tree is a semi-tropical species and it is best to keep it indoors in temperate climates. You can move it outside in summer when it is warm, but note that the mandarin does not tolerate big drops in temperature well, and ensure that it is protected from the wind.

Bushy Mandarin Tree Watering and feeding:

They must be watered generously as soon as the top inch of soil gets dry. Do not let the soil dry out fully and avoid constant wetness. See our watering guide.
Only feed periodically during the growing season (March-Oct).

Bushy Mandarin Tree Pruning and wiring:

Pinch out and trim new growth to maintain the appearance of the tree. The spring and summer growing season is the best time to do this.
The Chinese privet is best wired in spring and summer when the branches are more supple and pliable but you can do it anytime of the year.

Bushy Mandarin Tree Repotting:

Repot in early spring with a well-draining bonsai soil mix.
