Artistic Chinese Myrtle 32cm Description

The Chinese myrtle bonsai tree is native to the Mediterranean and some parts of Northern Africa. Myrtles have small, fragrant white flowers which turn into a dark coloured fruit that can be used to make liqueur. The Ancient Greeks and Romans associated this plant with love and marriage, making it a popular choice for bridal bouquets.

This lovely Chinese myrtle bonsai tree is standing at approximately 32cm tall in a cream oval ceramic glazed oriental pot with a depth of 15cm and width of 18cm. This Chinese myrtle has an interesting twisted trunk with some exposed bark and bushy branch structure.

Artistic Chinese Myrtle Placement

Place outdoors in summer to let the myrtle take advantage of the extra airflow and sunlight but do not expose to temperatures below 10°C.
If keeping indoors, choose a sunny windowsill that receives plenty of light.

Artistic Chinese Myrtle Watering and feeding

They must be watered generously as soon as the top inch of soil gets dry. Do not let the soil dry out fully and avoid constant wetness.
See our watering guide.
Only feed periodically during the growing season (March-Oct).

Artistic Chinese Myrtle Pruning and wiring

Chinese myrtles have an excellent twig structure and if pruned constantly will thicken quickly (ramification). Prune back after flowering.
The Chinese myrtle is great for shaping with standard wiring but take care with older branches that snap easily.

Artistic Chinese Myrtle Repotting

Repot in early spring with a well-draining bonsai soil mix.
