Small Buddhist Pine 32cm Description

The Buddhist Pine (Podocarpus) bonsai, also commonly referred to as Chinese yew, has dense, dark green needle-like foliage and is native to tropical mountain regions in Japan and China. It is evergreen so will hold its foliage all year round and it can produce berry-like blue or green fruits.

This beautiful Buddhist pine bonsai tree is standing at approximately 32cm tall in a light blue ceramic glazed oriental pot with a depth of 16cm and  width of  17cm. This Buddhist pine has a curving trunk in the informal upright style and two balanced branches with lush foliage.

Small Buddhist Pine Placement

The Buddhist pine can be indoors all year round as it is a tropical species. If you prefer, you can place it outside in summer but do not expose to temperatures lower than 7-13 °C.

Small Buddhist Pine Watering and feeding

They must be watered generously as soon as the top inch of soil gets dry. Do not let the soil dry out fully and avoid constant wetness. See our watering guide.
Only feed periodically during the growing season (March-Oct).

Small Buddhist Pine Pruning and wiring

Regular trimming of your Buddhist pine will help your tree grow a thicker trunk, encourage back budding and keep it miniature. Trim and pinch back new growth, which you can identify by its lighter green colour, throughout the year and whenever needed.
A young Buddhist pine can be easily wired as its branches bend very well and you can do this any time of the year.

Small Buddhist Pine Repotting

Repot in early spring with a well-draining bonsai soil mix.
