Naruko Fertiliser Slow Release Bonsai Feed Description
Naruko Fertiliser Slow Release Bonsai Feed is a semi-organic feed formulated mainly for outdoor bonsai made in Japan. Breaking down over time it is capable of feeding your trees every time you water. This makes overfeeding and root burn for more difficult. This is a well-balanced, natural and chemical-free fertiliser with equal parts N-P-K. The formula is 100% safe for pets, wildlife and plants.
How to Use
Naruko Fertiliser Slow Release Bonsai Feed requires sprinkling on the top layer surface approximately every 4 to 6 weeks. This will depend on the soil you are using and your goals with the tree in question. Consider that quality gritty and open bonsai soils lose nutrients quite fast through drainage holes when watering. This means feeding consistently across the growing season is a must to ensure the plant nutrition is met. In general, it is best to feed trees are the first spring flourish of growth has hardened. This tends to occur several weeks after growth has started in early spring. Feeding can continue into Autumn when leaf fall has begun. It’s worth noting that some evergreen species benefit from light feeding bi-monthly in colder months.
How it Works
As Naruko breaks down, it can appear somewhat mouldy or fury, producing a blackish layer sometimes. This is not a cause for concern, it just means the feed is breaking down and is working as required. While the appearance isn’t encouraging, you can rest assured that the feed is working and will do so every time you water.
Note: This is not an appropriate feed for sickly and poorly trees. Applying this will not make it better. Scrape off any feed on the soil, find out the cause and wait until regular growth has started before feeding again.
