Plant!t Vermiculite content is comprised of mica minerals with soft and natural sterile properties. This makes for a brilliant water-holding substrate. It has a considerably high cation exchange capacity meaning it slowly releases nutrients back to the plants. This substrate is organic, inert and safe to use.
It is usable by itself or mixed with other forms of potting compost. It makes for a brilliant partner of seed or regular potting composts due to its water retention and absorption properties. It can stop soil from becoming compacted potentially restricting airflow, a disaster for root growth. This mix has a strong ability to hold vital nutrients making it a potent growing media. The mix is free from disease, viruses and other harmful organisms and has no known toxic effects on plants. It can be mixed with perlite, soil and works as an improver for both heavy and light soils. This mix will not decay or decompose, it has a neutral pH value and can raise the pH of existing substrates.
It is used as a substrate appropriate for both soil and hydroponically-based plants, it works very well as part of a bonsai’s grow media. It also works as a top layer to soil and for propagating seeds.
