The Sesbania Bonsai (Sesbania spp.) is an elegant and unusual bonsai known for its soft, feathery foliage and delicate branching structure. Its fine, fern-like leaves create a light and graceful appearance that gives the tree a tropical aesthetic. During the growing season, Sesbania trees can occasionally produce small decorative flowers, adding extra character and seasonal interest.

A sunny windowsill or bright indoor space is ideal.
During the warmer months, the tree will benefit from being placed outdoors in a sunny, sheltered location where it can receive fresh air and additional sunlight. If light levels are too low, the tree may produce weaker growth or elongated shoots.
Watering
No strict schedule, watering needs vary based on climate, soil, airflow, and pot size.

Feeding
Feed weekly or fortnightly from March to October with Chrysal Liquid Bonsai Feed (2 ml per litre of water). Add directly to the water during submersion.
Regular pruning keeps your bonsai healthy, compact, and aesthetically pleasing. Growing season (March–September). Trim and pinch back new growth, which can be identified by its lighter green colour, throughout the year and whenever needed. Once the new growth is around 10cm, trim it back, leaving some new foliage.
Wiring is best done during late autumn, when the tree’s growth naturally slows. Use a wire that is approximately the same thickness as the branch. This helps gently shape and refine your bonsai’s structure over time.
