The Egyptian Thorn (Vachellia nilotica) bonsai is a distinctive and characterful tree known for its delicate, feathery foliage and naturally rugged appearance. Its fine, fern-like leaves create a soft texture that contrasts beautifully with its developing trunk and branch structure. During the growing season, the tree can occasionally produce small round yellow flowers, adding further interest to this unique bonsai species.

It benefits greatly from plenty of natural light and warmth.
During the warmer months, the tree will appreciate being placed outdoors in a sunny, sheltered location where it can receive fresh air and additional sunlight.
If light levels are too low, the tree may produce elongated growth or lose some of its delicate foliage.
Watering
No strict schedule, watering needs vary based on climate, soil, airflow, and pot size.

Feeding
Feed weekly or fortnightly from March to October with Chrysal Liquid Bonsai Feed (2 ml per litre of water). Add directly to the water during submersion.
Regular pruning keeps your bonsai healthy, compact, and aesthetically pleasing. Growing season (March–September). Trim and pinch back new growth, which can be identified by its lighter green colour, throughout the year and whenever needed. Once the new growth is around 10cm, trim it back, leaving some new foliage.
Wiring is best done during late autumn, when the tree’s growth naturally slows. Use a wire that is approximately the same thickness as the branch. This helps gently shape and refine your bonsai’s structure over time.
