The Buddhist Pine (Podocarpus macrophyllus) bonsai features dense, dark green, needle-like foliage. As an evergreen, it retains its leaves year-round and can occasionally produce berry-like fruits in shades of blue or green.

Make sure you bring it indoors at night. It thrives in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate full sun. If the needles of your tree become too elongated, take this as a sign that your pine is not receiving enough light and consider moving it to a brighter place.
Watering
No strict schedule, watering needs vary based on climate, soil, airflow, and pot size.

Feeding
Feed weekly or fortnightly from March to October with Chrysal Liquid Bonsai Feed (2 ml per litre of water). Add directly to the water during submersion.
Regular pruning keeps your bonsai healthy, compact, and aesthetically pleasing. Growing season (March–September). Trim and pinch back new growth, which can be identified by its lighter green colour, throughout the year and whenever needed. Once the new growth is around 10cm, trim it back, leaving some new foliage.
Wiring is best done during late autumn, when the tree’s growth naturally slows. Use a wire that is approximately the same thickness as the branch. This helps gently shape and refine your bonsai’s structure over time.
