How to Use
Whilst Fuji Grit can be used straight from the bag, it is advisable to pass it through a sieve before use to remove any fine dust that may affect drainage.
For most bonsai, Fuji Grit is blended with other substrates such as Akadama and pumice—typically making up 25–33% of the mix—to balance water retention and drainage. In wetter climates, it is especially valuable for preventing root rot by improving airflow through the soil. It can also be used as a decorative and functional top dressing to protect soil surfaces and enhance aesthetics.
